Nursery Ballet and Creative Movement - Nursery Ballet and Creative Movement classes are a fun introduction to ballet for our youngest dancers. We ensure an enjoyable and creative approach to lessons using ribbons, scarves, masks and teddies to develop an interest in dance and movement. Through exercises, games and creative movement children are introduced to the fundamentals of ballet and dance technique whilst developing motor skills and coordination. Nursery classes are available from age 2½ years.
Pre-Primary to Intermediate - Ballet classes for older children involve a mix of syllabus steps and free choreography engaging the pupil's creative and collaborative side. Classes are built around the Imperial Society Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) syllabus and pupils are encouraged to learn towards graded examinations which they may choose to take when they feel ready. There is no pressure to take examinations however they offer a valuable learning experience and a real sense of achievement. Classes also involve learning routines for shows and dance displays offering pupils the excitement of performing for an audience. Various classes are available from the age of 4 upwards.
Pointe Work - When pupils have learnt the required technique and have gained strength (around 11 years old / ISTD grade four) they are invited to join our Pointe Work class. The ability to dance En Pointe (dancing on the tips of the toes) is the pinnacle of a ballerina's ambition and represents the culmination of many hours of commitment and achievement. Dancing En Pointe is the dream of all ballerinas and demonstrates fully the beauty of the classical ballet style.
